The Predictable Transformation Highway System (The P. A. T. H. System™)
The P.A.T.H system™ is the hallmark of cognitive training at The Cognitive Emporium (TCE). Our intervention is an intense, individualized, comprehensive plan that utilizes the brain’s neuroplasticity.

Training for Parents & Professionals
Neuroplasticity defines the brain’s ability to change and modify neuron activity and connections in reaction to increased learning demand. The P. A. T. H. System™ is a comprehensive plan personalized to your child's learning style.
It is made up of specific training plans that take advantage of their strengths and weaknesses. The system is designed in phases, with a variety of options that promote rapid strengthening and growth of the neural connections required to optimize learning, and allow your smart kid to get even smarter.
There are many trails along life’s highways and the same is true when it comes to learning optimization. In order for individuals to meet their potential, it is crucial that a unique profile be identified and a plan put into place.
Step one in determining which P. A. T. H. is right for you, begins with:
The Best Investigation Tool For Knowing Everything (The B.I.K.E.)
The B. I. K. E. utilizes a variety of tools including: family, medical, and educational history, standardized and non-standardized testing, cognitive comparison screenings, clinical observations, and parental goals. The purpose of this evaluation is to determine any struggles preventing a person from reaching their optimal learning potential. Once identified, a strategic plan can be formulated and their distinct P. A. T. H. created. While everyone’s neural pathway system is different, research reminds us that there are specific causes to academic struggles. Therefore, we have developed
highly effective, research based, programs to address the most common areas of weakness. In addition we have gathered the best tools on the market to assist us in achieving success.
The following are the specific steps along The P. A. T. H. System. It is important to note that everyone’s journey is different and the time that it takes to achieve maximum results vary. However when the plan is followed, academic and learning optimization occurs.
The Systematic Working Memory Intervention Method (S.W.I.M)
According to research the driving engine for learning is found in the memory system. For example, in order to become a proficient reader, attention and working memory needs to be optimized. Working Memory is a muscle that can be strengthened using cognitive intervention. Our intervention uses 32 one on one sessions to improve an individuals attention and memory system. We utilize a variety of tools to accomplish this task and those tools are determined in step one with The B.I.K.E
Retraining Utilizing Neuropathways (R. U. N. )
In order to permanently solve a learning problem, weak underlying cognitive skills must be strengthened. The majority of why a smart child struggles can be found in the underlying root system known as cognitive processes. Whatever problems or weaknesses are identified as weak there will be long term effects at the academic level. For example, in order to become proficient in higher order math skills, logic and reasoning, visual processing, and working memory skills should be strong. If not, a student with normal intelligence will work harder, not smarter in higher level math activities.
Cognitive Auditory training for Reading and Spelling (C. A. R. S. )
The neuronal pathways that lead to proficient spelling and reading, are rooted in the language area of the brain. Therefore, efficient language processing is crucial for an individual to thrive in the area of reading, writing and spelling. This program is specifically designed for one on one individual training, using increased intensity, duration, and frequency training. This unique program retrains the way an individual processes language, attacks words, and manipulates sounds using verbal and visual working memory skills, auditory analysis of sounds, processing speed, word retrieval, rapid automatic naming skills, and auditory comprehension. C. A. R. S. begins with 32 sessions (phase 1). Everyone achieves their optimization in a different time. While C. A. R. S. significantly reduces the amount of time traditional reading tutoring can take, the amount of time spent on C. A. R. S. is not known. A Reassessment is given at the end of each phase and recommendations are given at that time.
Better Understanding of Self (B. U. S.)
The more a person is aware of their unique learning profile the more power they are given to overcome any of life’s obstacles. We believe strongly in educating, equipping and empowering people so that they can gain independence and self confidence. A variety of tools are used to equip people on the B. U. S. Our coaching system helps you reach a goal or make a change in your life that directly impacts learning optimization. A variety of coaching is available which can include ADHD coaching, College Prep or College coaching, ACT Prep Coaching, and Parent Coaching. Each session can vary in time and length and can be completed in house or online.
Training for parents and professionals (The T.R.A.I.N. station)
One of the best ways to change the world is through teaching. One in five people learn differently. Based on those statistics, there would be no way that every student that needs our help could be seen by our trained professionals. We decided to change that by offering trainings professionals and parents that can be accessed through our training module system and taught on their own time at their own pace. Trainings for professionals are geared toward those professionals committed to changing the world like we are. Our parental training complements your child's training programs. We know that time is valuable and parents don’t always have the extra time to commit to. Therefore, we offer educational modules that can be taught on their own time in their own space.
